Article: The 21 Unwritten Rules of Meetings
article1
Article Written By: Alex Cavoulacos
A few weeks ago, I wrote about the unwritten rules of email, and I was blown away at how many people found it helpful. Turns out, there are a lot of rules out there that we could all benefit from getting on paper!
With that in mind, I’ll be doing a few more of those lists, starting with the second biggest office pain point: meetings. Read on for the must-know rules of how to run a successful meeting, and colleagues everywhere will thank you.
1.     Make sure you really need a meeting before scheduling it. Could this be resolved by 10 minutes on the phone or via email instead?
2.     Every meeting should have a purpose: You either need to make a decision or complete an action together. Giving an update can almost always happen by email.

Canada hailed as one of five best G20 countries for entrepreneurs

Yet, EY also noted three in four entrepreneurs cited that financing remains a hurdle in Canada, while 36% said business failure is a barrier to future venture opportunities. READ MORE
Why Canada needs to step up and better support entrepreneurs
Canada lost nearly 40,000 jobs in July and it now has an unemployment rate somewhere between 7 per cent and 13 per cent, depending on whether you count people who have given up looking for work. For the 1.4 million Canadians without a job, it must seem like there is very little light at the end of the tunnel. Job grants and training programs are a step in the right direction but the government needs to start thinking creatively about how it can pull the country out of this prolonged slump. Article Written By: Lewis Howes
As a profession, entrepreneurship breeds anything but balance. The highs can be stratospheric and the lows can be crushing. Trying to find your rhythm in a highly competitive market can take its toll and sometimes entrepreneurs burn out far too soon. But there are ways to maintain balance despite the roller coaster ride.
This is something Mike Del Ponte, co-founder and chief executive of Soma, knows a lot about. Soma is the maker of smart, biodegradable and beautiful water filters, and delivers them to customers every other month. READ MORE
